Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the initial part of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
