Novak Djokovic Issues Caution to Jannik Sinner: Doping Ban Will Hang Over Him Like a "Shadow"
Novak Djokovic has cautioned Jannik Sinner that his three-month ban for doping will persist over his career like a "cloud" – while also questioning the scheduling of the penalty last year.

Sinner completed a three-month prohibition in February 2025 after the World Anti-Doping Agency accepted his explanation that a prohibited performance-enhancing substance, the steroid clostebol, had been ingested unintentionally.
"This shadow will trail him just as the cloud of Covid will follow me, for the remainder of our respective careers," Djokovic stated in a discussion on Piers Morgan: Uncensored.
"It's just something that, it was so major, and when that happens, with time it may lessen, but I believe it won't fully vanish. There's always going to be a specific segment of individuals that will continually reference the incident."
Djokovic's Perspective
Djokovic expressed belief that Sinner, a regular practice partner, "didn't do it on purpose", but he proceeded to question how the Italian managed to complete his ban without missing a grand slam.
"There is the lack of transparency, the irregularity, the convenience [of] the ban occurring between major events, so he avoids skipping important competitions – it simply appeared highly unusual," Djokovic added.
